Chapter 9

An operating system (OS) is a set of programs containing instructions that work together to coordinate all the activities among computer and mobile device hardware. OS functions is to stating computers and mobile devices with turn on the power button. A user interface (UI) controls how you enter data and instructions and how information is displayed on the screen. An operating system handles programs can directly affects your productivity in 3 types; single tasking and multitasking, foreground and background, single user and multiuser. The operating system determines the order in which tasks are processed. A driver is a small program that tells the operating system how to communicate with a specific device. Operating systems also typically provide a means to establish Internet connections. A desktop operating system is a complete operating system that works on desktops, laptops, and some tablets such as Windows, Mac OS, UNIX, LINUX. There are mobile OS which is Android, iOS and Window...

Chapter 8

A storage medium is the physical material on which a computer keeps data, information, programs, and applications while cloud storage is another storage option, in which the actual online storage media used is transparent to the user. A storage device is the hardware that records and?or retrieves items to and from storage media. Capacity is the number of bytes a storage medium can hold and the items on a storage medium remain intact even when you turn off a computer/mobile device. There are a few types of storage medium which is hard disk, flash memory storage, memory card, USB flash drives, cloud storage and optical disk. Enterprise storage  is a centralized repository for business information that provides common data management and protection, as well as data sharing functions, through connections to numerous (and possibly dissimilar) computer systems. Other types of storage is magnetic stripe card, smart card, RFID tag, microfilm and microfiche.

Chapter 7

Input is a data and instructions entered into the memory of a computer. There are many items that commonly used input methods include keyboard, touch screens, pen input and many more. As we know, most desktop keyboards have typing area, function keys, toggle keys, directional keys, media control buttons and internet control buttons. A pointer is a small symbol on the screen whose location and shape change as a user moves a pointing device such as mouse. A touch screen is a touch-sensitive display device. Other than that, we also can use pen input, graphic tablet, motion input, voice input, audio input and video input. A scanner is a light-sensing input device that reads printed text and graphics and then translates the results into a form the computer can process while an optical reader is a device that uses a light source to read characters,  marks, and codes and then converts them into digital data that a computer can process. A bar code reader, also called a bar code scanner us...

Chapter 6

The case contains and protects the electronics of the computer or mobile device from damage. There are many parts in the computer such as motherboard and processor. The motherboard is the main circuit board of the computer and it has a computer chip that contains integrated circuits. The processor (CPU) contain a control unit and an arithmetic logic unit (ALU) and the example is Intel and AMD. Home and business users choose cloud computing for a variety of reasons like accessibility, cost savings and scalability. In data representation, analog signals are continuous and vary in strength and quality while digital signals are in of two states; on or off. Memory consists of electronic components that store instructions waiting to be executed by the processor, data needed by those instructions and the results of processing the data. There are two types of memory; volatile and nonvolatile memory. There are also many types of adapter card such as Bluetooth, MIDI, Modem, Network and many mor...

Chapter 5

Digital Security Risks is any event that can cause losses or damages to computer/mobile devices, software, data, information or processing capability. This also includes Cybercrime, Digital Security Risks includes Internet and Network Attacks , Unauthorized Access and Use, Hardware Theft, Software Theft, Information Theft and System Failure. There is also Hacker who are mostly Corporate Spies that breaks computers system with ethics to test the systems weaknesses and does not damage the system or destroy any data, while Cracker are Unethical Employees who deliberately breaks the system to damage and sabotage elements unethically while also being aggressive and dangerous. So. Backup is very important as it duplicates the files, programs and media that can be use if the original one is lost or damaged. Information Privacy is an indivinduals and companies right to deny the colloction and use of their information

Chapter 4

A Program/Software that tells a computer what or how to do tasks while Application/App are programs designated to help users become more productive. Operating System that like Windows, Linux and Mac OS is a set of programs that coordinat the activities among computer and mobile devices. Program and Apps can be categorized into 6, which are Productivity, Graphics and Media, Personal Internet, Communications, Security, File and Disk Management.

Chapter 3

There are several types of computers such as Desktop/Mobile Computers, Servers/ Terminals, Game Devices, Embedded Computers, Handheld Computers. Then, there is also supercomputers which is the most fastest, powerful and expensive among the computer. Cloud Computing is a bunch of Servers houses and provide users with resources. Other than that, there is also ports/connections such as USB,HDMI,Lightning and many more. Bluetooth, WiFi and NFC also can be consider as a part of connections. There are also Health Concerns when using technology, such as repetitive strain injury, computer vision syndrome, getting addicted to technology and many more.

Chapter 2

The Internet is a worldwide collection of networks that links millions of businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and individuals. First of all, the Internet originated as ARPANET in September 1969. Nowadays, we can connect to the Internet with two ways; with wired connections to a communications device or by using a wireless modem. An Internet service provider ( ISP ) is a business that provides individuals and organizations access to the Internet free or for a fee. (Unifi,TM,Celcom) . Bandwidth represents the amount of data that travels over a network which is Megabyte (MB) and Gigabyte (GB). On the Internet, IP addresses, domain names and DNS browser is one of the things that matter. There are also a variety of popular TLD and is often used by everyone such as .com, .edu, .gov, and more. The World Wide Web ( WWW ), or web , consists of a worldwide collection of electronic documents ( webpages ) and each of every websites has a unique address called a web add...

Chapter 1

Digital literacy involves having a current knowledge and understanding of computers, mobile devices, the Internet, and related technologies. A computer is an electronic device, operating under the control of instructions stored in its own memory. There are a few types of computers; Laptop, Tablet, Desktop, Server while the types of mobile and game devices are smartphone, digital camera, portable media player, e-book reader and also game console. Data and information are related to each other  because data entered or as input will be processed and then the information will be generated or called as output . A display is an output device that visually conveys text, graphics, and video information. The Internet is a worldwide collection of networks that connects millions of businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and individuals. We must use computers and devices smartly so as not to be infected with viruses and to save energy.
